Staged and hung by James. James joins Wendy in officially opening her solo show – ‘Art of Timeless Beauty’ an Exhibition of Still Life Paintings. Exhibition opens 30th August, join Wendy and James for an Artist Talk about the show, artistic process and the Still-Life genre.

The 26th Clare Valley Rotary Art Show 2025

James McFarlane serves as the judge of the 26th Clare Valley Rotary Art Show. The 2025 exhibition features more than 500 entries, with a prize pool of over $20,000.

Spanning nine categories and a range of artistic mediums, awards included ‘Best Oil Painting’, ‘Best Watercolour’, and ‘Sculpture’ – the show showcases the breadth of practice and celebrates the creativity of its contributors.

‘Birds Eye View’ – by James McFarlane will be exhibited alongside 78 artists in the finalist exhibition at The Garden Gallery, in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens from 30th October – 9th November 2024, 10am – 4pm.

Celebrating life and beauty, STILL time explores aesthetics of the everyday that transcend the temporalities of Nature Morte tropes by adding twenty first century tweaks. Expanding on art historical themes of vanitas and memento mori.

This exhibition includes a contemporary twist with hints of playfulness, levity and revelry. Exhibition presented by Studio Bowden as part of the 2024 Adelaide Fringe.

James McFarlane has spent the last two years quietly painting elegant ‘still lifes’, refining his skill and talent with oils on canvas.
